Annotated Table of Contents
Introduction
A message from the author that briefly explains the process which
leads to the development of the manuscript, the group of men who
participated with the author in the process of recovery as shared in
the manuscript as well as the developing vision to share the gifts
of life that these men have received.
Chapter 1
The End - The Beginning
Attempts to convey the emotional, psychological and spiritual
upheavals suffered by the author prior to and during his acceptance
of his addiction(s) as well as the similar paths experienced by the
men in the author’s partnership group.
Chapter 2
Discovering Light and Hope
Challenges ineffective perspectives of God and religion. Seeks to
help men and women gain an open mindedness which has escaped them in
the past and will be required for future growth and healing.
Chapter 3
Change Your Heart
Confronts the reader to avail themselves to help. Communicates the
message that ‘God is a life or death issue.’ The author expresses
his own faith in Jesus Christ that is both intimate and
evangelistic.
Chapter 4
Say Hello to You
Takes the reader on a journey of honest self-discovery, conveying
the message that we will never have an honest open relationship with
God, who is a God of truth, unless we are willing to be real and
honest with ourselves.
Chapter 5
Get Real
This chapter is all about fellowship, real fellowship. Encouraging
all people to seek, discover and experience the benefit of a life
with no secrets.
Chapter 6
Discovering a Deeper Desire
Helping the reader to embrace the dissatisfactions of life.
Communicating a message of hope that the personal dissatisfactions
and character faults that have been hidden and which surface in
recovery are the motivational springboard, which prompts people to
continue to grow and change.
Chapter 7
A Newer You
Gives the reader basic strategies for facilitating his/her own
changes in behavior and mental processes as outlined and experienced
by the author and his recovering partners.
Chapter 8
Seeing the World around You
Addictions of all kinds are built on self-centeredness and even
recovery can be self-centered and ingrown. This chapter helps the
reader take a closer look at themselves and realize the extent that
he/she has been selfish and has hurt other people.
Chapter 9
Embracing the World around You
Gives guidance to mending and repairing relationships. Helps assist
the reader in living a life that is empowered by an authentic
relationship with God and serves others with an authentic love.
Chapter 10
Integrity Inside - Integrity Outside
Beginning with this chapter the work seeks to assist the reader in
maintaining the principles of growth and self-honesty, which that
have worked through in the previous chapters. Encourages the reader
to be who they are, through and through. Communicates the message
that life, real life, is not an act.
Chapter 11
Listen Intently - Speak Softly
Encourages devotional and meditation practices through the use of
traditional spiritual disciplines as discovered, implemented and
enjoyed by the author and his recovering partners
Chapter 12
Destiny Arrives and We Show Up
Delivering the message of astounding promise for any and all
recovery people. We become the most blessed of al men in that we who
have lived in shame and secrecy now can live lives of freedom and
confidence , rejoicing in and sharing with others the gift of
recovery that God gives and is needed by all people. Each of us has
a unique voice of praise and honor to God that when shared with
others will assist others in a way that no one else can.
